I was so fortunate to Have Melinda for my Piggie Partner. Saturday Melinda came to my house to meet. We had a blast, we sat in the sewing room and talked and laughed, ate soup and cookies. Years ago I bought this book to read with Kaela.
It was such a cute cover that I didn't even bother to read what it was about. Once we read it, we both fell in love, it was so cute and fun.
Kaela kept saying she was glad she didn't have a doll like Babushka's! I agreed with her but secretly thought Babushka was a very wise grandmother.

I'm happy to say that I finished up my piggie ornament for January. Little Miss Hamelina just needs a string and she'll be ready to hang on my YOE Tree.

I thinks she looks a bit like a hippo but I know she's a pig. Besides, I don't think hippos have curly tails. Anyway, Hamelina is made from a felted pink sweater cuff so she's recycled. Don't you love recycled wool? I do!

Peppermint Pixie

Sarah should have her package by now so I thought I'd post what I sent to her.

I made the little pixie from some doll parts that I had on hand, felt, and pipe cleaners. I crocheted a little shawl and matching hat, I crocheted the legs and added a pom-pom for shoes. I also added some little peppermint sticks for wings.

I hope Sarah likes everything I sent!

Here is a piggy recipe by Paula Deen.

It is sort of a muscled up version of pigs in a blanket! These are REALLY good. I've made them several times and never have leftovers. I like to make them for game days...and our family can polish them off before half time.

Sometimes when I'm in a hurry, I precook the sausages, let them cool and then put them in crescent roll blankets instead of the pastry puff. Be aware though, If you do it that way, you need to cook them a bit beforehand because crescent rolls only bake a few minutes. You'll also need a couple cans of the crescent rolls. I've even split the sausages in half lengthwise before cooking because our family likes burned piggies!

The three little pigs....

One of the things I liked to do best when I was a kid was dance, sing and boss all the other kids around. We lived right next to an old grade school that had a separate gym...The school was shut down and so was the gym but we found a way in anyway..Why? Because not only were there basketball hoops, the perfect floor to roller skate on and rings hanging from the ceiling, there was (big build up here) a stage.....The perfect place for the things I loved to do. So we would crawl under the old porch that was the front entrance and wiggle thru a hole and crawl up into the gym. One of the plays that we would put on was the Three little Pigs. I had this record by Disney....(if you are asking what a record is you are too young to read this, go away. lol)

I was always the director (bossiness showing) and the narrator because he (she) had the biggest part...The weird thing is, I still know all the songs and who says what. We had this little play down to perfection. We even had dance numbers where I would make my sister play a certain part of the record and then turn it off at the appropriate times...(bossy). I miss those days where all the world was a stage and stories were magic.

Another weird little pig note is when we were kids we always called link sausages "little Pigs"...

So for the record, is that a weird little family thing or has anyone else heard of that? Just wondering...

And last of all, in closing I bring you pig in boots, just cause he is so darn cute....

"A Year of Enchantment III" has arrived and after tallying all the votes, the theme is STORYBOOK!

We will have an entire YEAR of being artsy, craftsy, and otherwise beautifully entwined in a storybook wonderland. Although we will NOT have monthly swaps, I will be hosting theme related swaps throughout the year.

Take a walk with me as we revisit our favorite characters.
Take a moment to create something beautiful FOR. YOUR. SELF.
Take your children on outings inspired by the theme; maybe to feed the birds or to drop a toy along the way throughout the year.
Take yourself to the library and re-read the story from each month's theme. Those of you with children will cherish this time together.
Take this opportunity to de-stash your craft closet.

And just think....if you choose to play along, you will end up with a minimum of 12 ornaments for your Christmas Tree!

This month's activity was to make candy cane syrup....and I did. I kept putting it off because I couldn't find any cute corked bottles. I went to several stores looking for some because I wanted to use it as gifts. Then I found one in my own closet! It is a big 2 cup capacity jar but I made it ..and it is delicious!

I crocheted a little tree ornament and then

sent a little birdhouse matchbox ornie too.

and I made this tree garland out of felt and used a

blanket stitch around the trees.

I also grunged the trees so they smell yummy.

I found this recipe off foodbuzz.com and couldn't resist sharing it here given our theme.

Peppermint Pixies

Maybe it's the season, weather or just something in the air but lately I've been having a peppermint craving, the more intense the better it is. Since it's Christmas, I decided to make an ordinary chocolate cookie a little extra ordinary so that's how these peppermint pixies came to existence.

Commonly called chocolate crackles, chocolate crinkles and chocolate snowcaps, these cookies are delicious and bursting with chocolate flavour all on their own. The addition of creme de menthe and peppermint oil elevates them to another dimension and makes them seasonally special. As a child I recall fairy tales which often portrayed pixies as short and ill tempered little creatures. Therefore it would only be fitting to call these peppermint pixies because although they are tiny, they pack an intense mighty minty punch!

Fresh and cooled after baking, they are crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. They will be chewy after a day. These are a simple roll and bake cookie. You may already have your own recipe if not enjoy the one below.

Peppermint Pixies
yields about 2 dozen

Ingredients
6 oz Bittersweet Chocolate
1/2 teaspoon Peppermint oil
1/4 cup Cocoa Powder
3/4 cup AP Flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons butter
3/4C Light Brown Sugar - packed firmly
1 large egg
2 tablespoons milk
2 tablespoons creme de menthe (optional - omit for child friendly morsels)
Granulated and icing sugar for rolling - about 1 cup each

Method

Chop chocolate into small pieces and melt over a bain marie. Set aside to cool.
Sift dry ingredients together; Cocoa powder, AP flour, baking powder and salt.
Cream together butter and sugar until mixture is light and fluffy. Add in egg and beat until just combined. Stir in peppermint oil to cooled chocolate and add to butter mixture. Beat until well combined.
Add half of sifted dry ingredients and mix on low until just combined. Add in milk and creme de menthe if using and continue to mix on low speed. Finally add in remaining dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Portion dough in two and between parchment paper press each portion into a square about 3/4 inch thick. Place in refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours.
When ready to form balls. Pop the chilled dough into the freezer for about 7-10 minutes. While waiting, prepare the icing sugar and granulated sugar separately in a medium sized bowl for rolling.
Remove dough from the freezer, using a knife cut dough into 3/4 inch squares. Since I find the dough to be of a sticky and wet consistency, I found that this method of working the dough as cold as possible helps alleviate the sticky situation.
Between the palm of your hands, roll each square into round balls which will be roughly 1 inch in diameter. As you are rolling, the warmth of your palms will start to melt the dough which is what you want as this will make the granulated sugar stick to them.
Chuck the balls into the bowl with the granulated sugar and swirl them around to be completely coated. Pick them out and set aside. Do this to all the remaining dough. You may have to wash your hands between rolling but I found for myself that working the dough in 2 portions only required my hands to be washed before getting to the 2nd final half.
After all the balls are formed and covered in granulated sugar. Preheat oven to 350˚. Roll the chocolate balls in icing sugar to generously coat them. Don't be skimpy here as this is what will create the black and white contrast of the cookies.
Place the icing sugared balls onto parchment lined cookie sheets about 2 inches apart and bake 10-12 minutes until they puff and crack. Keep in a tightly sealed container for up to a week.

It may appear that there are many steps but don't let this deter you from attempting this recipe. It's all about ease and efficiency and being organized. You'll understand the messy and sticky situation when you start or attempt this recipe. It really is easy if you are organized and have everything ready.

I got a lovely package from Sarah .... I just love these little beaded trees .... and they sparkle beautifully under the Christmas Tree lights:-)

My USPS confirmation says my partner has received her package, so I wanted to share the swans I sent her before we get into the tree postings. My idea was to use a fall seasonal item for a swan. I thought gourds looked like a swan with the long crooked neck. So I painted one up and adhesived some feathers to it for its wings. I was amazed myself how cute it looked.

Also, I made her a "flying stuffed softie swan" with adhesived feathers and beaded feet.

I hope they made it safely with no loose feathers.

November's theme

When I was young, I was lucky to live in Germany for a few years.

In one town, my best friend lived through a little wooded area. The only way to her house from mine was to either go through the woods or around town. I would go through the woods and over a little brook....I loved walking to her house and listening to the little critters scurry around.

In another town, our housing was on old farm land. The developers had left a plum orchard intact. To get to school, you could go through the orchard and save time or go around the orchard. I always loved to go through it....not to save time, but to play in the orchard.

I would climb those plum trees and eat myself sick. I would fall out of those same trees....and climb right back up them! I would sit in the trees and think, I would hide in them, I would cry in them. I spent a LOT of time in plum trees for those years!

Trees are definitely enchanting...they grow from tiny seeds, they bear edible seeds and fruits, they offer shelter for birds and other creatures.

This is my beautiful black swan ornament from Courtney. Not only is it pretty, it's recycling. Courtney used a CD, papers, flowers and embellishments to create the swan ornament. It looks great on my tree!

I just finished my activity for this month.

I read the book "The Trumpet of the Swan" by E.B.White.
Yes...it is a kid's book but I'm really glad I reread it. It was one of the books I really loved as a child and rereading it as an adult gave me goose bumps (swan bumps?)

If you read it with your children, pay close attention to the freedom Sam has in the book.....I remember that too. Adults didn't have to hover over their children at every turn like they do now.

I've sent off my swan to my partner....and now I'm thinking of NOVEMBER!!!!

I also made her some earrings that have seedpod beads (same ones that I put on bottom of ornament). Kerry likes to knit so I included some cool yarn in fall colors.. finally some seeds that she might like to plant :) This was a fun swap and I look forward to putting together my swan package :)

Gin sent me a beautiful package!!! It was filled with handmade goodies! She sent ornament's made from the gum ball from a sweet gum tree. So very cool, I have never seen theses before. She also sent lovely glass birds that perch on a Christmas tree limb, hand made soft flowers and darling handmade ornament hooks. Thank you Little Messy Missy! My seed package is awesome ----ANGEL TRUMPETS.
You could not have chosen a better seed for me. My cousin has 2 beautiful angel trumpet bushes that are always beautiful. I never thought of getting seeds from her. I have my own seeds now..

And such a pretty beaded braclet, tags, mini punch, and paint, and sorry but the Utah chocolate was melted (we still have 90 something degree weather). And she hand painted a card with angel trumpet blooms.

My ornament is a replica seed pod of a trumpet with hand painted blooms on it.

My froggy swap gift came today from Sherry W. and I must honestly say that I belief I may have received the best swap gift ever...oh, what wonderfully creative and unique items. Gizzy helped me unpack the box:

This is very exciting! I'm so smitten with this crocheting frog who has beads attached to the yarn saying "rip-it"... how clever is that? She's going to be my constant crochet partner with her big, toothy smile - reminding me that if at first you don't succeed, just rip-it and try again :-)

I can't get over the detail and workmanship Sherry put into making those two decorated match boxes. They're simply adorable and they even have little surprises inside. Here's the frog prince and his loot:

I just love those three little draw string pouches with the lovely froggy material and the pretty blue inside. They are very well made and so cheerful looking:

It's hard to read them on the photo, the different froggy sayings are: "Toad-ally happy for you" - "You make my heart leap!" - Sorry I frog-ot" and "You're un-frog-gettable" - isn't that clever?

I'm blown away with these wonderful gifts. I'm pretty sure I don't deserve them all, but I'm accepting them anyway with thanks, admiration (for your talent, Sherry) and appreciation. It's Christmas in September! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Sherry - you outdid yourself!

I have been down and out with bronchitis for the last 8 days.

The frog prince ornament is so pretty and detailed with its charming ribbon and bow hanger. The frog pin cushion is so cute, with magnets on the bottom so it will be sure to stay where I put it. The green frog color sewing tin already has lace and trim in it from Jill. I have opened and eaten most of the frogs in the candy bag. A frog stapler is just too cute. And frog fabric. And frog colored note cards. I have invented the new color of the week -- frog color.

Frogs, frogs, frogs! Gin sent this froggy prince package to me. It arrived on Friday after a busy week at school so it was a great way to end the week! My daughter quickly scoffed up the puzzle and hung the appliqued froggy hand towel in the bathroom. The fabric has frogs, turtles and says nature. How perfect, right?! I thought so too! It has been set aside to wash/dry before we use it for a future project. And the ornament, you ask? My new frog prince ornament, complete with a crown and royal cape, is hanging on my YOE tree. Thank you Gin!

Ok, so I couldn't resist that heading!!!! My package was so awesome ... Val sent me the cutest froggies ever ... I absolutely adore them.
Take a look and see for yourself ...

She made them (except the small one - I think he's made of Fimo), from paperclay. If you've never tried using that stuff, I can strongly suggest you try - I love it. It is so versatile.
Then, as if that wasn't enough, she made me this house, which just blew me away!!! I plan on putting it in my garden, near the birdbath I am going to mosaic (Ummm ... that is when I get up the courage to actually lay a tile .... for some reason, mosaic scares me!!!). See for yourself, just how lovely my little house is.

My favorite part .... Val's signature ladybird:-)
I also recieved a few other goodies .... notebook, tea, soap, buttons, little birdhouse and some fimo (love that stuff!!!).

Each spring and fall, I'm reminded of how enchanting and wondrous seeds and plants are. That being said, they are something we all take for granted....but without them life. simply. stops.

Amazing really!

Many are featured in fairy tales (Jack and the Beanstalk, Princess and the Pea, Thumbelina and Rumpelstiltskin to name a few) but even if they weren't, they would still be enchanting.

September's ornament: seeds or seedpods of any kind ...feel free to include a wee inhabitant if you'd like.
Don't forget that some flowers are actually seed pods (ex: dandelion and thistle) and that trees have wonderfully ornamental seedpods.

September's challenge: create a nature table, wreath or swag with things you collect during the activity.

September's activity: take a walk in the woods or on a nature trail with a friend or loved one and enjoy the change of seasons.

First of all, I got this lovely mermaid package from the amazing and talented Gin a while back! Things have been so hectic that I didnt get a picture until tonight. I have been lucky enough to swap with her during the last two years three times! She made me a beautiful mermaid handtowel that is hanging in my mermaid bathroom and she didnt even know I had a mermaid bathroom! Daniel, my grandson, has been staying with me the last three weeks and everytime he goes in the bathroom he says, "I know, dont dry my hands on the mermaid!" Hey, I know how much work this applique stuff is! She also glass etched a mermaid silhoette on an ornament. It looks so pretty on my little tree...She also knows I love ribbon and lace so I got some of that too! Thank you so much Gin, you are a sweetheart!
I am going to go ahead and post pictures of what I sent her. I am so late, I am ashamed of myself and to make up for it, I added something else. It went in the mail today and I am sorry Gin that is so late! Please forgive me.

Daniel made you a journal while I was sewing...Then we made some mermaid cards and a fish ornament and a sea star....

I also sewed you a mermaid ornament....She caused me all kinds of grief but in the end, I kinda like her.

And the extra? I made you a little quilted mug rug with a free motioned mermaid on it so you can have tea by the sea.... Thanks again for your patience!

A few weeks ago I also got a package from Jill...She sent me some lucky ladybugs to send me cheer!

I think they are wonderful! I also love this idea....She laminated a ladybug drawing and she said if you use double stick tape you can stick it to a can to make a pencil cup...I havent done one yet, but when I do, I am going to take it to work for my desk.......Thank you Jill for thinking of me!!!!

I found this fun project on National Geographic Kids so it's a safe site to visit.
While surfing for something (I can't remember lol) I came across this cute project.
I thought this would be a good project for people who can't or don't wish to have a Gnome area outside.
It would also be a good project for anyone who would like to bring a little Gnomie-ness inside.
I think I might try this one later.
It would also work with real plants or some little fake guys. Or you could just skip the plants and make a little fairy garden.

And that's exactly what Jill's package to me was ..... magical!!!
We arrived home late last night from a weeks vacation in Missouri, and I found her package waiting for me .... lucky me:-D

Cast your eyes upon all that goodness!!!

Look at this beautiful treasure. She is made from a piece of driftwood that Jill found a number of years ago - isn't it just the perfect shape for this queen of the sea.

This mini quilt she made me is just precious. I'm going to add loops to the top of it and hang it with my other swap treasures, that I've recieved .... all from women I consider friends, although I've never met them in person.

No, we're not finished yet ..... this pretty bracelet was also included. It is so me!!! I wore it to Church today, and got a number of compliments on it

Mermaid Awesomeness!

Yesterday was my lucky day, I received a box of mermaid awesomness from Kerry! I was positively giddy as I unwrapped all of the goodies Kerry sent! So now to share, here are some of the goodies Kerry sent.

Just look at this amazing mermaid pincushion. I have long admired Kerry's pincushion creations. I'm so excited to have this beauty! I think this is the beginning of my new pincushion collection!

Kerry also sent this beautiful mermaid ornament, 3 spools of ribbon, a beautiful seahorse pendant and some of her homemade raspberry jam. The jam is delicious! I enjoyed it on my toast this morning.

She also included goodies for my daughter. My daughter was so happy to be included and loved the owl pencil set, fun eraser set, a mermaid that grows in water, plastic shells, mermaid glass charms and this adorable owl/ladybug apron, bag and toy pattern Kerry sent.

Kerry, you really spoiled us! Thank you so much for this amazing box of mermaid goodies. We loved everything! This was an awesome package! Thank you!!!

I knocked out the dotee doll challenge the other day and wanted to make a water sprite for my regular ornament.
I used this photo as loose inspiration for the fins. My fins weren't as airy since I was using foil. At one point, I had them curled but decided I liked them better wavy instead.

First of all, the best...I got my package from Sherry full of fairy things....I love her creations so much. She is so humble about the things she makes too...I would be showing them off all over the place if they were mine!

I have a feeling she knew that I would go crazy over these paper dresses on a clothes line! They are hanging in my dining room. Even though it is a mess I couldn't wait to hang them up.

She sent me two tiny little altered matchboxes, a crocheted book mark, a flower fairy ornament and also some cupcake sprinkles

which I adore....

She even sent me "You are a star" magnet....very sweet I think.

I havent been able to sew much lately. Everything feels too scattered and I spend all my time searching for things....I have had a lot of anxiety so I started playing with a piece of printer paper...(really) and some cheap little kids paints in the little containers....It turned into a mermaid painting....

At first she looked like a transvestite with a big square, jutting chin and I kept wanting to paint an adams apple on her neck but I refrained and redid the chin....You can still see the hint of a drag queen, but I am fine with it....I was so relaxed and really enjoyed the whole process..The next night I used heavy watercolor paper and I got some good acrylic paints and I painted another one...

These might turn into some kind of mermaid cards or something, but maybe not....maybe I will paint a mermaid dotee doll just for you Val.......

Finally Some Mermaid Creativity

I've been very excited about this month's mermaid theme but haven't been very productive in terms of creating mermaids. We have a new puppy who has been taking up a lot of our waking hours so I've been slow to create. I have my mermaid ornament done but haven't created anything else. Last night I decided to try my hand at making my mermaid dotee. I have this great sparkly fabric that looks like scales that I psyched to use. I made a mermaid costume for my daughter using this fabric 4 or 5 years ago and didn't remember struggling to sew with it. I almost called it quits last night and considered scrapping the whole idea when my machine tried to eat the fabric because it was so lightweight. I persevered and figured out how to add some weight to the fabric. This was at midnight and I still wasn't happy with the my dotee's skin and almost threw her out, but I broke out my paints and started painting skin and hair instead. I finally dragged myself up stairs to at 1:30 am feeling better about my dotee. When puppy woke me up at 6:30 this morning I was tired but finished my mermaid. This wasn't my original vision for my dotee but I'm happy with her. Now that I'm feeling a little better in the mermaid creativity department it's time to finish up my mermaid package for Kerry.

Bird's Nest Clay Pot Ornaments

Hi everyone! Due to a neck injury back in January I haven't been doing much blogging or crafting but I have been visiting alot of blogs and surfing the web. I came across a fun project that reminded of Val and the YOE swap group. I emailed Val and she suggested I put it up on this blog. Duh! Now why didn't I think of that? LOL

I don't know if any of you have seen Favecrafts but they are a wonderful site full of all kinds of free projects. In their Christmas section they had these cute clay pot ornaments.

These birds are cute but you could also put other things in the pot. I think a cute little hedgehog would be adorable.

I like this one with the glitter around the rim too. This one would be nice with a little baby to mark the birth of a new little one or a small couple to celebrate a wedding or one of those mini graduation caps. Then you could write the date and occasion on the bottom of the clay pot.

In my package was 3 of the most delightful little clay creatures .... 2 little ladies and a mushroom. I also recieved a glass ornament that had more little ladies painted on, and that was finished with some lovely red fluff. The ladies have a little house of their own - Melinda made me a fabric ladybug house .... so very cute:-D
She rounded off the package with a set of handmade ladybug cards - gorgeous, and some ladybug pushpins, which I've had to hide from my daughter, to stop her rehoming them!!!

I received my ladybug YOE goodies from Sherry. I have to apologize because the pictures are terrible and don't do the goodies justice. Sorry! My phone is on it's last legs and I don't know where the camera is.

Sherry sent a cute ladybug basket, ladybug ribbon, cards, pom-poms for making ladybugs and two sweet little matchbox ladybug ornaments.

Here's a close up of the matchbox ornaments. Each of the ladybug ornaments was filled with loot. Look at all of these great embellishments for my future projects. Sherry thank you for the sweet ladybug package! I love ladybugs and this was so much fun!

I got the most amazing little package from Kerry full of red white and blue...oops I mean I red and black ladybugs! Benny the gnome pincushion also came along and I think he tried to get into my chocolates...I found itty bitty little teeth marks on the box. In fact, yeah, he did eat my ladybug chocolates! That is my story and I am sticking to it cause' the box is empty. Bad Benny, bad. (he is glaring at me over the top of my laptop.)

She also made me the cutest little lady for my tree......

Ok, here you will see the cutest little salt and pepper shakers, ladybug ribbon and that darn empty (Benny, how could you?) chocolate box....

I have about 3/4 of my house unpacked and Olivia and I put up my enchanted tree...It is wonderfully full of the best handmade ornaments ever...She thinks I should put up my little pink one too and start filling it up too....We are all the most talented group arent we? Can you spot your ornament????

Ladybug Package

I've been anxious to post the picture of the ladybug goodies I sent to Sherry for June's YOE theme. USPS delivery confirmation says it was delivered so I'm posting the picture. This month I tried modge podge and paper mache with tissue paper for my ornaments. The ornament on the right is made using a silver frame that I bought at a yard sale then modge podged a page from Alice In Wonderland on it. I drew a little ladybug for the center but Sherry could replace it with anything she wants. The green leaf ornament in the center was made using wire and tissue paper that I paper mached to the wire. The ladybug on the leaf is also made from paper mached tissue paper. I altered a small Altoid can using modge podge to be a ladybug ornament or maybe a little pill box for Sherry's purse. Of course my personal favorite is the wool ladybug pincushion. I promised myself I wouldn't use recycled wool this month for YOE ornaments but I couldn't stop myself and this little ladybug fairy was born. I think she's very cute and rounds out the package. I had a great time making these ornaments and hope Sherry will like them!

Now I'm looking forward to July's theme - Mermaids, water sprites, sirens, and water nymphs! I can't wait to get started!

With it being so HOT and DRY here, my mind keeps wandering back to the water.......and since I had a requested theme that goes with the water, I thought we would revisit it!

I know Sherry hasnt had a computer, and I also know that she has had time to get my package....I am going to go ahead and post what I sent her just so I can keep up with things....So here they are, fairy ornaments in teal and purple.

I found a scrapbook store in my new area, and they had the most amazing fairy papers so I made tags

and cards.

Some fairy goodies rounded it off...Someone had sent me the cutest fairy cookbook and Liv and I just love it so I found another copy at a bookstore for Sherry and her kids...Some banana split holders, fairy (pixie) stixs and some pretty papers...

I hope she and the kids enjoy their package....Now, I am thinking about ladybugs. By the way, I just got back from camping and I found a ladybug in my bra twice.....Wonder what that means? Maybe my boobs are lucky!

Due to some unforeseen life circumstances, I was granted a little more time to complete my gnome home for Kerry. I mailed it a week or two ago and thought I'd post pics of it now...

This little gnome is taking a snooze near a couple of toadstools and under a beaded rainbow. He's scuplted from air dry clay, so are the mushrooms. Then I squeezed them all through the top of a clear glass ornament top! That whole challenge ended up being REALLY fun.

I also included one of my owls, a dove bar, two vintage layered button magnets and a gnome plaque.

Kerry, I hope it arrived safely and that you enjoyed it all!! I wrapped it pretty carefully.

Fairy Mail

I came home from school tonight to find YOE Fairy mail. The package was from Val so I was excited and knew it would be a good package. I opened it to find everything wrapped up. What is it about a nicely wrapped package that makes it even more exciting to dig in to see what's inside?!

Val spoiled my daughter and I! She sent fabulous treats for both of us. Here's a picture of almost all of the goodies we received. I say almost because Val made a hair clip with a big orange flower and a clear jewel. When I unwrapped it I immediately put it in my hair and forgot about it. It's still in my hair now.

The ornaments are beautiful! Here are the two flower fairies Val sent. I think the little fairy is so delicate. I can't wait to get them hung up.

Now here's where you'll get jealous, if you weren't already. . . look at this sweet flower fairy house! I LOVE it!!!! Val crocheted these little flowers and leaves then put them all over the house. It's so beautiful and unique! I can't crochet for beans so this is something that I am in awe of and I appreciate. Val is a talented fiber artist. Combining the yarn media with a painted wood media was genius! I never would have thought of it.

Val also sent a children's book for us. It's called All the World. I love the illustrations, particularly this page. I love the landscape drawing. It says "All the world is you and me." I like the sentiment that together we make the world, so we can make it a better place. Thoughtfulness and kindness always make the world a better place. Val's package was filled with both. Thank you Val! I Love everything!

I don't know if any of ya'll could hear me squeal today!

The mail came and I got my package from Jill. Oh My Gosh did she spoil me!

Jill is seriously talented and everything she does is perfect....even the wrapping.

See the sweet little cards on the gift wrap? She made them all!

Jill sent me so much more.....too much to show it all individually.....but there is one last item that is really special.

She found it while on vacation in Nassau, while playing in the water.

It isn't a big thing....but it brought tears to my eyes. To know that Jill found this LAST year while on vacation and saved it for me to use in a mosaic.....I can't tell you how much that means to me.

Sometimes I am lonely and feel as if I have no friends. But going forward, each time I look at that tile, I will be reminded of how wrong I am. I promise to use it in something special.

Thank you Jill, I love it all...I just hope you are half as happy with what I made you!

Kerry sent my a beautiful Bird package over flowing with gifts. I feel so spoiled.

The nest for my Christmas tree is made out of all types of things...twine, fabric, feathers. It is beautiful.

Look at all the goodies! Gardening seeds and gloves, garden stakes, note pads, purse hanger, lavender satchel, pens...and the best of all...a gorgeous apron!!!

This is what I saw when I opened the box!!! Wonderful!!!

I feel bad for taking so long to post because my nest package is just adorable....I had been so sick with some kind of virus and I opened it up and I felt like Spring had sprung right into my little world....

Jill made me notecards with a drawing that she had done, she bought me the cutest little birdie salt and pepper shakers and you have got to see the little wire nest ornaments close up.....I cant even imagine the patience it took you to make those!!!!

But this guy is my favorite....While I was still sick I kept him by my nightstand. Somehow he just made me feel better. Maybe because he makes me laugh. I think his mate abandoned him and while she is out playing, he is sitting on the eggs....

Thank you Jill for making me smile and for all the joy you put into your creations!

I recieved my April swap package from Missy a little while ago, but did not open it until today. The reason being that I don't allow myself to open the package I recieve in a swap, until I have sent my package out ..... and this last month ran away with me.

Missy, your package is on its way. Thanks for being so patient:-D

The package I recieved can only be described as enchanting!!! My kids and I have spent the afternoon enthralled by the nest ornament she sent me. Take a look, and you'll understand why.

This is a real birds nest, that fell from a tree in her yard. She glittered it, and gave it an occupant. She put it into a round ornament ball and finished it off with a ribbon hanger. It is truly beautiful. The nest is a perfect cup shape and made of the most delicate sticks perfectly woven together.

Not only was I spoilt with such a treasure, but she included some other lovely treats for me.

Some bird seed - oh, the birds in our yard will be delighted. Some lovely perle embroidery thread and bird embroidery patterns. Rubber stamps, bird charms and a bird in a nest ... hmm, this may just find a home in another gnome garden:-D Then I also got some Peeps .... oh how I enjoy Peeps, and they taste even better when Peeps season is over, yet I still have some to enjoy.

Missy, THANK YOU for spoiling me so. I loved everything you sent me. The ornament will be treasured for a long time to come:-D

Sherry sent me the cutest package filled to the brim with all things hedgehog!!! I LOVE it all. She even made coasters, napkins and scrubbies for my sink. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the 2 hedgehogs she sent and the tiny matchbox filled with goodies. Thank you so much Sherry!!!

My April bird nest came from Courtney. And such a cute nest with a mama bird sitting in the nest. And then a whole flock of little baby birds!

And she included 3 skeins of yarn and a cute tag to go along with the nest package.

Bird's Nest Goodies Received

This month I was partnered with the fabulous Melinda C.

This is the marvelous package Melinda sent to me. The bird's nest is on a clothes pin so it can clip to the tree. She also sent these amazing tags she made and this bird pendant. Not only did she create these amazing goodies but she did it all while moving into a new house this month and having to search through packed boxes for craft supplies! Thank you Melinda for the extra effort!! I love my goodies!!!

I promised myself that unless requested by a participant, I wouldn't repeat a theme from last year.

BUT, I figured out how to do a theme with it not being a total copy....

May's ornament: FLOWER fairies!
Challenge: to use a flower in your fairy creation.
Activity: ***Spruce up last years fairy house. Plant a fairy garden, add a little something to the house, do a repair or two if needed.
