January's theme and giveaway!

Baby its COLD outside!

So what do you do when it is soooooo cold outside you want to stay and snuggle down in the house?

You create a warm and cozy space...maybe drink some cocoa or coffee and read a book.

This month's challenge is to help you do just that!  Create a small lap blanket to help keep you (or someone else) warm.  When I say small, I mean it....don't overwhelm yourself with a large project. The idea is to make it THIS month so you can use it this winter.  Considering winter lasts a mere 2 months here in Louisiana, I'm starting on mine TODAY!

Ideas...
For hooky folks, crochet or knit a lap afghan.
Sew a super simple baby quilt for someone who is expecting  Here is a quick tutorial.
For non sewers, try a quick fleece blanket where you cut and tie two pieces of fleece together.
Backed flannel blankets with no batting can be cozy, just finish with pre-made blanket edging.
Work a simple blanket stitch around a piece of pre printed fleece

WHATEVER it is you choose, post it here by the end of the month and I'll put your name in a hat for this little giveaway.     Among the goodies, there is another hand made angel, and some tags I punched from beautiful calenders I've been saving the last few years.  

here is a close up of the tags....most are glittered and all are beautiful.  If I did paper crafts, I would keep them for myself!!!

A challenge and a giveaway!

Your doll is shipped, right?   
You have all this good zombie creating energy coursing through your veins!  Right?
NOW what do you do?  Well, I've been thinking about that and came up with an idea.  

Each year I fall in love with what I give away and then want my own!  So with that in mind,  I'm hosting a challenge!

Starting NOW, create yourself something inspired by the swap.   Maybe you want a zombie doll you saw someone else get....so try to make one for yourself!  Or maybe you want a zombie apron. Or maybe you want to creat a zombie doll identical to the one you just shipped off.  Afterall, we love them.  I can't tell you how many times people say, "It was so hard to send this one off."

Make it (whatever it is!) and post it here by October 11th.  Everyone who posts something they made for the challenge will have their name put in a giveaway. (expect moi!)

I'll put all the names in a witches hat and draw out a winner!  Then I'll stuff a box full of goodies and ship it off the next week!

Gnome Giveaway!

I've had lots of fun with YOE so far this year. The themes are great! I am enjoying expanding my creativity and trying new things. I've had lots of fun with the February gnome theme. After seeing Gnomeo and Juliet I've been enchanted with all things gnome. As a matter of fact, I created this little gnome home from cardstock and a Chrystal Light container.

Inside this little faux tree stump are 6 little wooden gnomes and a ball perfect for a game of gnome bowling. This little set is looking for a home, hence a Gnome Giveaway. If you'd like to take these little gnomes into your home, leave a comment. We'll draw a winner on Saturday March 26th.

July's Door prize

When I first saw that each of us would be hosting a give away I went on an Ebay search. I found this Michael Miller Fairy panel and fell in love. I knew it would be great as a give away for the Year of Enchantment. When I quilted it I did some squiggles and swirls and followed the leaves and flowers. It was fun to just wiggle and squiggle all over except for the fairies face. It felt strange to be quilting over her face.

This mini quilt measures 21" X 41". It is a nice size for a small table runner or to hang on the wall. The background is a  soft pink/peach color that doesn't seem to show in the picture.

The back and the binding are red with polka dots. This is such a sweet looking quilt. I've had it laid out on my cutting table for a couple days so I can look at it as I walk by.
