July's Theme!

With it being so HOT and DRY here, my mind keeps wandering back to the water.......and since I had a requested theme that goes with the water, I thought we would revisit it!

By looking at the matchbox below can you guess what it is?

That's right! Although we did a mermaid last year, there are so many types of water maidens, I think any one of us could play with the theme and come up with something perfect and/or perfectly different!

July's theme is mermaid, siren, water sprite or water nymph.

July's challenge... Make dotee doll and incorporate the colors of the sea

July's activity...enjoy a water based activity.
If you are TOTALLY land locked with no local pool, try playing in the hose while washing your car, have a balloon fight, or run through the sprinklers with the kids.

"...surely woman rose from the frothy sea, as resplendent as Aphrodite on her scalloped chariot."

Little Ladybug ...

I couldn't resist posting this picture. We went peach picking yesterday at a local peach orchard - great fun!!! When I looked down into my bucket at one point, this little ladybug was having a wonder around.

Wishing you a wonderful day :-)

Coming up with these themes each month is fairly easy but doing them is sometimes NOT!!!!!!

That being said, this month's theme really tested me. I had something else in mind but they didn't work. I may try one more time this weekend....

sooooo, my first TWO ladybug ornaments were a fail!

I embroidered.
I added sequins.
I added beads.
I added teeny tiny antennae and...

I painted.
I painted dots.
I painted a face and a cape and....oops.....

I'm officially stumped, this theme is tougher than I thought it would be.

back to the ladybug drawing board....thank goodness I had the sense not to swap this month!!!!

fairies for Sherry...

I know Sherry hasnt had a computer, and I also know that she has had time to get my package....I am going to go ahead and post what I sent her just so I can keep up with things....So here they are, fairy ornaments in teal and purple.

I found a scrapbook store in my new area, and they had the most amazing fairy papers so I made tags

and cards.

Some fairy goodies rounded it off...Someone had sent me the cutest fairy cookbook and Liv and I just love it so I found another copy at a bookstore for Sherry and her kids...Some banana split holders, fairy (pixie) stixs and some pretty papers...

I hope she and the kids enjoy their package....Now, I am thinking about ladybugs. By the way, I just got back from camping and I found a ladybug in my bra twice.....Wonder what that means? Maybe my boobs are lucky!

Better late than gnever...

Due to some unforeseen life circumstances, I was granted a little more time to complete my gnome home for Kerry. I mailed it a week or two ago and thought I'd post pics of it now...

This little gnome is taking a snooze near a couple of toadstools and under a beaded rainbow. He's scuplted from air dry clay, so are the mushrooms. Then I squeezed them all through the top of a clear glass ornament top! That whole challenge ended up being REALLY fun.

I also included one of my owls, a dove bar, two vintage layered button magnets and a gnome plaque.

Kerry, I hope it arrived safely and that you enjoyed it all!! I wrapped it pretty carefully.
