"The Enchanted Forest" Ornament Swap(NOW CLOSED!)

"The Enchanted Forest Ornament Swap"

For this swap, you will be creating 1 holiday ornament or decoration for your secret swap partner. You will also include a little sweet treat for them.

Although you may use any medium, please remember that ornaments are generally small.
If you choose to make something larger, like a decoration, that is fine but please understand you may not get something like that in return.

Check with me if you have questions.

Gain inspiration from the natural world within a forest.
Things like owls, birds, hedgehogs, trees, flowers and sprites, pixies, elves, gnomes, acorns, mushrooms, toadstools, chipmunks........well, you get the picture, if not....see below for inspiration:

This swap is USA ONLY due to the quick ship date.

Sign ups are through October 31, 2009. If I get a huge turnout (doubt it) I may close the swap sooner.

I will assign partners immediately.
Deadline to ship out is November 21st, 2009 due to Thanksgiving.
Please do not join if you are over committed this holiday season.
It would be awful to leave a holiday swapper empty handed.

If you are interested, please email me at valpowery(aT)yahoo(dOt)com with the following info:

1. your name
2. your address and phone number
3. your blog address
4. your favorite holiday treat if you have one
5. list a few of your favorite forest inhabitants (unicorn, toadstool, fairy, acorn, gnome, etc...) this will give your partner something to choose from.
6. if you have a 'color' theme you decorate with during the holidays, please include that info
7. are you able to angel if needed?

As always, I am trying to keep expense low and let creativity run high!
That being said, expect to spend no more than $5-$10 on this swap before shipping.
I'm sure most artisans/crafters will have plenty of supplies in their 'stash' for this!

Please do your very BEST work...something you know your partner will cherish for years to come.

I thought I'd share a couple of the recipes that I used in the cookbook I made for Gin. Enjoy!

  Monster Cookies
6 eggs 4 teaspoons baking soda
1 lb. brown sugar 9 cups oatmeal
1 ½ Tablespoons white corn syrup ½ lb. chocolate chips
½ lb. butter ½ lb. M & M’s
1 ½ lbs. peanut butter

Mix ingredients in order given. Drop on cookie sheet by Large Tablespoons….flatten slightly. Bake 12 minutes at 350 degrees.
DO NOT OVERBAKE!! Makes about 8 ½ dozen cookies.

Recipe from the cookbook Home on the Range by Sister Karol Jackowski

The “Thing” Cake
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease well a 9 x 13 pan.
1 pkg. yellow cake mix 1 stick of butter or margarine
1 cup chopped pecans 1 egg

Mix together. Mixture will be real thick. Spread mixture into pan.

Take:
8 oz. cream cheese 1 box (1 lb.) powdered sugar
2 eggs

Mix that well and pour over thick mixture. Bake 45 min and
Serve warm or cold.

I had to steal my pictures from a past post as my little man has already
run off with ALL MY GOODIES! But I love EVERYTHING!!!

There was also a fun dish towel and little bag!!
And of course a bag of CHOCOLATE!!
Thank you Gin!

My wicked witch package

I absolutely love my package. Thank you Sherry.
Witch's stew mix. So clever -- candy eyeballs, suckers, and other halloween candy, and plastic skulls, rats, spiders and stuff.
And pickled people. Instructions -- add green colored water to jar of skeletons.
My own witch's cookbook. Sherry did a fanstastic job making the the recipe book. I'm going to try the recipes.
And there are witch's family photos -- a family of demons with green eyes!! And fall popouri included! And the crocheted spider web with a spider on it!!!

THANK YOU!

I received my witches cupboard swap package this week. I was amazed! This truly is a work of art. I took it to school to show it off. Everyone loved it! Here are a few pictures I took but the pictures don't begin to do it justice! You really have to see it in person. It's amazing! Melinda included glass bulbs filled with Halloween items(ribbon, candy corn. pom poms and spiders.) Thank you Melinda!

This is a picture of it hanging in my front hall. I hung it over the doorbell box to see how it looks hung up. Of course it looks great, even if I haven't hung the bulbs on yet. Thank you again Melinda! Happy Halloween witches, may all of your cupboards be full!

Such Ghoulish Goodness!

I received my Swap Items from Jilly in today's mail! And OH MY!! Was I ever in for a treat!

When I opened the box, there was this black cat (all fuzzed BTW) ready to get out! And a spooky skull and crow all ready to hop onto my cupboard. And four ghastly jars of goodies to fill my cupboard. Jilly even threw in a notepad (so I can write down my Witchy shopping list) and a bag of CANDY CORN that my Hubby immediately snagged. (Hhhmmm, maybe I can trade him some eyeballs for the CANDY CORN....)

And she also included a most beautiful piece of stitching that she made with her own hand. Isn't it GRAND??!!! THANK YOU JILLY!! Happy Haunting!

(sorry for any blur in the pictures - I was holding my kitty Fantum because she kept insisting on getting on the table to investigate the new cat and she kept wiggling)
