WAIT, WAIT, WAIT I did the November Craft Along

I know I'm really late posting this but...
  I found a ceramic tree at the thrift shop and snatched it up before anyone else could. It wasn't painted fancy so I had no guilt about priming over it and painting it the way I wanted.
  What it did have was it's the exact ceramic tree model that I was looking for. A few years ago I made the same ceramic tree for my sister and meant to make one for myself but never did, then the ceramic shop went out of business and shipping cost for one are crazy. I was really happy when I stumbled across it.

   I wanted to give the tree some depth and dimension. I painted the tree with different colors of green and the base with different colors of brown, to bring out the nooks and crannies I dry brushed a dark brown and wiped the excess off. I still need to add a new light to make the bulbs glow, that can wait until next Christmas.

 

  I'm real happy with the way it turned out.

November's challenge, little tree.....

I had a busy Fall and just got around to doing some catch up blog posts!

Here is my challenge for November.   I made this little tree for my kitchen...isn't it cute?  I found the tree, broken at at store and bought it for 2 bucks.  I fixed the broken light and then painted this urn I had in the garage....jammed the little tree in and wala!

So, that is obviously NOT my kitchen, right?  Kaela wanted my 4 foot tree so I let her have it and I took this one to work.....it is actually the perfect size.

So far, I've managed to do ALL the challenges this year......

November's craft along theme

The craft along theme for this month is simple.

Create a holiday decoration!  ANY holiday....ANY decoration.  Large or small, keep or giveaway.  Just make it!  Re-purpose something? Sure!

Such a no brainer, right?  

Maybe it is an idea you've pinned (don't we have HUNDREDS?)  and never gotten around to making.

Maybe it is something you have for other holidays and want to re-create for a different one...like a wreath.
As for me, I have a rag garland for Fall and one for Spring...

I've been wanting to make one for Christmas....maybe this will give me the kick start I need!

Whatever IT IS, make it lovely and have fun!

November's theme

When I was young, I was lucky to live in Germany for a few years.

In one town, my best friend lived through a little wooded area. The only way to her house from mine was to either go through the woods or around town. I would go through the woods and over a little brook....I loved walking to her house and listening to the little critters scurry around.

In another town, our housing was on old farm land. The developers had left a plum orchard intact. To get to school, you could go through the orchard and save time or go around the orchard. I always loved to go through it....not to save time, but to play in the orchard.

I would climb those plum trees and eat myself sick. I would fall out of those same trees....and climb right back up them! I would sit in the trees and think, I would hide in them, I would cry in them. I spent a LOT of time in plum trees for those years!

Trees are definitely enchanting...they grow from tiny seeds, they bear edible seeds and fruits, they offer shelter for birds and other creatures.

November's ornament: A TREE.
November's challenge: give your tree a wee inhabitant...maybe a little squirrel or partridge or wood gnome.....?
November's activity: drop off a can of food at a local church or food bank.

Sandy was my partner in October and she wasn't feeling well. You certainly can't tell from THIS beauty ....

Darling Courtney sent me handmade deer ornaments in last months swap .. isn't the painted Christmas light bulb so unique! My daughter immediately claimed dips on the ring pop lip glosses. THANK YOU Courtney!!

Lots of deer in the my mailbox

Sherry managed to pack lots of fun little deer in my mailbox this month.

The most important lol. The boys were quick to fight over this. Of course Momma won and it is still sitting on my TV table FULL. Ha! Take that boys. (I call Hubby and Robbie-11 the boys)

Aren't these cards precious? I would love to make handmade cards but I really don't need a new hobby.

November's challenge

A ton of teeny crocheted acorns ...to help decorate for Thanksgiving. I used a tutorial from Resurrection Fern and truly love how they turned out!



Here they are in a little vintage basket my mother gave me a few years ago.

Stop by my blog tomorrow to see the rest of the decorations....now to work on something for Christmas!

November Doorprize

I've been collecting items for this months door prize ALL YEAR LONG!! Up for grabs we got...
