Marcie Queen of the Undead Mardi Gras

Kerry is truly a zombie artist.... meet Marcie, Queen of the Mardi Gras!

The details are stunning... from her eyeballs, to her exposed brain and little peg leg...

I love her!  And the most adorable "tuck ins" including this hand made bag -- can't wait to have my produce loaded into this at the farmer's market!  The details on the packaging were perfect - bows tied with little bones and the brain mold container....
Thank you so very much, Kerry - - I adore your talent! She is zombie perfection and will hold a place of honor on my mantel!

A giddy thanks to Chris

preparing for the wee hurricane that was about to hit us, i ran out of the house to go check the mail because i received an email that the t-shirt i had been waiting on had been delivered.  i was thrilled to find another package in there. i tossed the t-shirt bag aside and dug in. i was filled with glee as i discovered my little Dia de los Muertos party goer inside.

Absolutely ADORABLE!

i was just so tickled to find the other goodies inside -- fun fabric tape, a sweet little skeletal fairy, a Tim Burtonesque snake on a tree, and a pocket-sized Oogie Boogie which i immediately chased my 12 year-old daughter around the room with.

after taking a moment to post a quick thanks on Chris's post, it was back to work.

i have yet to try the cutely packaged orange candies, but do enjoy answering my kids when they ask, "what are these?" with a deadpan "mine," and have made sure to point out to my son that the little puffy clay skulls are NOT over-sized Lucky Charms.  so the storm came and left with minimal damage but plenty of moving plants, patio furniture, and Halloween decor back into place. i apologize for taking a while to getting around to sharing my joyful thanks. it took me 3 days to get around to opening up that t-shirt.

Zombie Bride . . . Thanks Debbie!

What an amazing zombie doll.  Thanks Debbie!
I wish you all could see her in person . . .
. . . as well as these wonderful pumpkin heads.
I love Halloween decorations.
My family thinks she a little creepy . . . LOL!
I think she is a lovely zombie bride . . .
 . . . and she is poseable.
Oh the fun you can have with a poseable zombie!
OK . . . maybe she's a little creepy, but her veil can hide that.
Thank you again Debbie!
And thank you Val for putting on this swap!

Annual Handmade Ornament Swap

It is time for my annual Christmas ornament swap!  As always, this swap is for handcrafted ornaments. Any medium is allowed!  You don't have to be an artist to join in!

This year the theme is "Traditional!” Think Snowmen and Santas and candy canes and such.

We are doing a "5 for 5"  swap.
What this means is that you will send me 5 of the same handmade ornament.  Then you will receive a variety of 5 ornaments back.

Once you join, I'll send you an invite so you can post on the swap blog.
You do not have to have a blog or webpage to join.
The deadline to sign up is Oct. 28th. I am limiting participants to 20 this year.

To sign up, send me an email at valpowery(at)yahoo(dot)com with your name and blog or flickr link/info.

This will be a USA only swap due to shipping.

The do's and don'ts:

Please DO create something you would love to receive and be sure to package your ornaments in a nice,

re-usable box so I can mail your new ornaments back to you in it.

Please DO NOT send any one dimensional tags as ornaments.  If you do paper crafts, you must have layers and glitter and gorgeousness.    Tags are great and I have a few lovely ones on my own tree but they were created as gift tags, not ornaments.  I just chose to USE them as ornaments because they were so nice.

Please DO take care when wrapping to make sure the ornaments are cushioned, etc. please put each ornament in it's own baggie or cellophane wrap so it doesn't get tangled with the others in shipping.   We DO want all our ornaments to arrive in pristine condition!

Please DO double/triple check your ornaments before shipping to me.  I had several 6-8 that needed fixing or replacing.  Some I replaced with ornaments that were actually sent to me as a gift.  I had to make more ornaments to replace the others with.

Please DO NOT join if you are unable to commit to making something you would enjoy receiving in return.

Shipping: Please send in $10.00 to cover the cost of sending ornaments back to you.  This will also cover tracking.   Please include a return address label already filled out.

Ship in time for me to receive them by Thanksgiving.  That way, I can get them in time to organize, repackage and mail them out by the first week of December.

Sadly, I can't guarantee you getting an exchange box if your ornaments do not reach me in time.  (If that happens, I'll gladly return your own ornaments to you using the money you sent for shipping.)
Shipping funds are important!  If you forget to include shipping, your ornaments can't be sent/returned until you have sent me the funds to send/return them to you.

If you finish your ornaments early, feel free to send them to me early so I can start organizing them.

If time gets away from you and you need to back out, no big deal, just drop me an email and I'll remove you from the list.

Also, don't forget to grab the badge to put on your own blog to spread the word!

Thank you Melinda!!!

A shout out to Melinda for my fabulous TAILGATING ZOMBIE!  I love the ornaments for my tree and the little tailgating banner!

Thank you Clare!

When I got home from school today I had a zombie package waiting. This is one of my favorite swaps each year! I enjoy creating a zombie and I'm always excited to see what everyone made for the swap.

This package doesn't disappoint, Clare sent me the cutest zombie party girl and so many fabulous Halloween goodies. My zombie is named Jacey. She is made with different fabrics, trims and textures. She is the cutest little work of art!  I LOVE her! Thank you for an amazing package Clare!!!

Now I need to pull out the other zombies in my collection and set them all up. Hopefully I can do that this weekend.
