March's challenge!

Seussify something, that's what I said
What was I thinking? I'm outta my head!
I had to make something, simple and quick
So I Seussified Osa with a clip and a snip:

But it wasn't enough, it didn't quite "do!"
I needed to Seussify another thing or two!
So I pulled out my hook and some yarn in bright colors
Crocheted up some stitches, some old and some yothers...
I made a new cozy so fun and so neat

But my Seussify need still wasn't complete!
So back to my stash, I dug through and through.
I pulled out some fabric, some felt and some glue.
Thread and a needle, down I then sat
And made a BETTER cozy with CAT IN THE HAT!

This poem was the last thing I thought should be done
Seussification complete, now wasn't that fun!

Seussification!!!!

The fabulous Dr. Seuss was born on March 2, 1904.    I adored his books....still do!

I can't pick a favorite because I read them all.  But being partial to turtles, I did name a few Yertle.  I also remember loving Gertrude McFuzz....and the pants with no one in them...and the animal that wanted to be put in the zoo...and the blue and red fish...and the dogs!  And the Grinch.....oh man.  This has me thinking of all the choices we could choose if we made z0mBiEs!!!!
(Okay, I stopped hyperventilating.....zombies are for OCTOBER...but maybe a Dr. Seuss theme is in order....)

That being said, how about a little Seussification for the month of March in honor of wise Dr. Seuss!

It doesn't matter WHAT you make, just seussify something and post it here before April and I'll put together a little something for a giveaway!

How about a little flashback from dear old me?

I made this little Ellie bird way back in 2008 for a swap I was in.

The possibilities are endless so I must get started!!!!

glitter bird

March's ornie is done. I used this tutorial as my inspiration. I decided she needed a little crown so I crocheted one using wire and beads. I love how "Princess Pinkie" turned out.

March's theme!

Spring is around the corner and with it come the birds!

Who doesn't love Make Way for Ducklings....or Are You My Mama? ...or Chicken Little? or The Little Red Hen? And those are just the oldies....there are just too many to list..so I went with
a story about vanity.
You'll find the story in the same book with Yertle the Turtle and The Sneetches, Yertle is on the front cover. Can you guess?

March's story: Gertrude McFuzz
March's ornament: bird
March's challenge: a gorgeous tail worthy of the amazingly vain Lolla- Lee- Loo!

March? check....

I'm following Gin's footsteps and got my ornaments for March knocked out yesterday.

It rained ALL day so I crafted, watched movies and read a book. It was SUCH fun just hanging out with no agenda.

now I have to read this:

and I plan on making a pincushion and one of those ruffled hedgehog softies.....can't resist......

March's ornament!

I have been eagerly awaiting this theme.........

What little critter was used by the Red Queen....in the utmost of BAD ways? Or delighted children in Beatrix Potter's stories?
And what little critter can roll into a wee little ball and stick out cute little prickles to ward off naughty creatures that might otherwise make a meal of them?

Why...the hedgehog of course!

March's ornament: Hedgehog

March's challenge: also make yourself a hedgehog pincushion!
There are a TON of tutorials and patterns all over the web for hedgehog pincushions.

March's activity: check out The Tale of Mrs. Tiggy winkle and read it to a child....or reread it yourself...just for fun!

Lookie lookie!!!

I got a great package from Jenny!! Check it out:

Everything was wrapped so pretty in pattern paper, but I tore thru it opening things before I even thought about taking pictures.  I am a little embarrassed that I never thought to wrap up my packages, but I plan on in the future.  It really makes it more special.  The mushroom is so neat - looks like it's base is a nut (is that right Jenny?).. and OMG the bottle of buttons is great.. this is the second package to include a neat bottle of buttons - I think I will keep them as decor!! The bunny figurine is so cute and will go great with my Easter decorations I am putting up in my house.  She even included a cute little bookmark that I will put to good use and some cute little stickers I will have to fight my daughter for :-)  I hope you like the package I sent you as much as I have enjoyed the one you sent!! Thanks for yet another awesome swap for the month!!

March Mushrooms & More...

I got my package yesterday from Sherry. Look what fun was in store for me!!!
OOH! Some pretty blue tissue paper wrapping all these:
I got two felt mushrooms, eight paper mushrooms, mushroom tags, a momma chicken and chick cleverly hiding an Easter egg and two energy bars!! Woo hoo!!
Here's a closeup of her felt and paper mushrooms...aren't they cute!! I love them!! And the crafty paper ones are awesome too!! I should scrapbook all my ornament pics...what I sent, what I recieved. Hey Val, maybe next year we could continue on with a scrapbook-a-long of all our ornie pics. :) And here's a closeup of the one I made for Sherry out of copper wire, faceted glass opal beads and teal seed beads.Thank you Sherry!! It was such a fun package, I love it all!! My toddler just LOVES the chicken with her egg too! :)

My Unique Toadstool

I received a wonderful March swap package from Rami the other day. It was all wrapped up so pretty and Christmasy.

Here is what was inside

I love the toadstool! It is cooper with beading on it. I thought it was so unique and so pretty! I love copper and for my second toadstool in my new collection I think this one is perfect. My first toadstool was one I won from one of our wonderful hostess, Val's giveaways. I think I am going to be addicted now!

Ramie also sent me the cutest little Easter candles, a postcard, yummy chocolates and some of the most wonderful vintage sewing supplies. I definitely feel spoiled! Thank you so much Ramie for such a wonderful swap package!!

Here are some cute goodies she sent along...some vintage cards with buttons, thread, some rick rack...an old paint kit. Even her note was on the back of the cute card on the left!

See that baby bottle attached to the dolphin card?

My dog ate my work

I made this toadstool to send to my partner.
but she's not getting it now. My dog got it and ate the dragon fly bug off while I was getting things together to package it up last night. I could have salvaged everything but the bug. But, it just wouldn't be the same with out the bug. And I had no more bugs.

So on to plan B. I made another toadstool (last night) with an entirely different approach. It's a fancy smancy toadstool!

And it's all boxed up and ready for the mail.

" When the winds of March are wakening the crocuses and crickets,
Did you ever find a fairy near some budding little thickets,
And when she sees you creeping up to get a closer peek
She tumbles through the daffodils, a playing hide and seek."
