Owls from courtney......

I got two of the cutest little hooters from Courtney! The first one is is on my table...He is kind of a fall owl...I love the fabric she used...Especially the fabric she used for the yo yo eyes....

She also altered a cd and painted an owl on it....It looks wonderful on my Enchanted tree.....

Thank you so much Courtney! I am working on your ornaments now and they will be in the mail soon!

My October Package Revealed...

I mailed off my October package to Gin today, so I was allowed to open the one I recieved from her a few days ago!!!
Cute... cute... cute is all I can say - Ok, very spoilt too:-)

She must have read my mind ...... pumpkins have been my Fall addiction this year!!! My Fall mantle is going to be an array of all sorts of pumpkins!!! She also sent me some Halloween napkins - perfect for our Cub Scout Halloween get together we're hosting on Friday night. A spool of pink ribbon - that color pink really makes me so happy!!!! 2 fat quarters ... love the little spider on the one. Look how cute that little pink owl ornie is, complete with his BIG glitzy eyes - LOVE him. The dish cloth is a work of art. I really admire people who can applique - my applique skills are just rubbish. Perhaps that will be my 2011 challenge to myself - to get applique mastered.

Gin, thanks for bringing a BIG smile to my day - I loved my package!!!

Thank you so very much Gin for my swap package - I haven't opened it yet (my rule, until yours is in the mail).
I have a trip to the post office planned for tomorrow!!!
Watch this space - I'll reveal its lovely contents just as soon as I open it!!!

October's challenge

I stepped up to the challenge this month too!

Here is what I did for Halloween.

I got the templates off allsorts
here and just tied them to a couple of those creepy cloths from the dollar store.

close up of one of the words...

I like how it turned out and it was super easy to do.

On to the next one.
Since I don't have many decorations for Thanksgiving, I thought I'd make one of those gorgeous fabric swags I've seen on other people's blogs.

I used pinking shears and cut and cut and cut a ton of swatches from my fall colored fabrics. All those fat quarters people have sent me in swaps got used up! Note to anyone doing this...RIP the fabric...m
y hands were sore for DAYS after making it!
I didn't use a tutorial, but afterwords found several and they ALL suggested you rip the fabric *sigh*

I'm very pleased with it.

Right now I have it draped on a table but once Halloween is over, I'll put it up on the mantel through Thanksgiving.

a close up of the fabrics....

Now I just need some cool weather!

Owlly fun

Here is what I sent to my partner, Natalie, in Australia. They don't celebrate Halloween, so just wanted to make my owl fallish. I thought my ornie should be a feminine owl, and a sleepy looking one at that.

I know she won't recieve it for a bit, because it has to travel so far, but I had not posted for a while
and thought I should add a post for this month. So if you see this Natalie, sorry, it won't be a surprize. I also sent some homemade herbal soap that was very smelly. Your package should arrive with an amazing aroma.

I also made this other little owl key hider, holder thingy. I saw these in a book and thought they were cute. Just pull up the tie at the top and the key is hidden, pull down and it appears. Hope you all have a really fun Halloween, and an owlly good time!

I WAS UP FOR THE CHALLENGE ....

I loved this months challenge....
The idea of using banners to celebrate holidays was a new concept for me on moving to the US a couple of years ago. I liked them, but had never really given making one much thought ..... until the other day:-)

Here is what I came up with for an enchanted theme banner ..... I LOVE it:-) I made it using felt, jumbo ric rac and buttons.
In fact, I loved it so much, that I went ahead and made a Halloween themed one, to go in a Halloween Swap I'm taking part in. This is what this one looks like ...

I'm just as happy with this one -for this one I also used felt, as well as that trim with the pom pom's attached to it.

I can see many Christmas banners on the horizon!!! Thanks Val for encouraging us to do something new .... you'll never know, if you never try:-)

Just thought I'd post a picture.....

Tonight I cleaned up my art and sewing room and I looked at all my great Enchanted ornaments and decided to display them....I went in the orange, green and turquoise playroom and hung them on my purple tree....Obviously I am a girl who is not afraid of color....My tree is just ENCHANTING.....You gotta click on a close up....Really!
